The cardiovascular system is, without a doubt, one of the most important systems in the body. It is responsible for moving oxygen and nutrients to the cells and tissues and removing waste products from the body.

1. Jogging or Running

 

Jogging or running is a great way to increase your heart rate and improve cardiovascular fitness. If you just adopted a fitness lifestyle recently, start with a slow pace and gradually increase your speed as you get more fit. Kanat started with one mile per week and went up to 15 miles per week within a year and a half. You can also add hills or other challenges to your route to make it more challenging.

 

 

2. Cycling

 

Cycling or biking is another fantastic exercise to boost your heart and lungs. Biking can be done outdoors or indoors on a stationary bike. Be sure to observe all the safety measures when cycling outdoors and wear safety equipment like a helmet and glasses.

 

3. Swimming

 

Swimming is widely known as a low-impact workout that is easy on the joints and healthy for the body. It is also an excellent way to cool down after a strenuous workout. The only downside to swimming is that not everyone has access to a pool, notes Kanat Sultanbekov.

 

4. Elliptical Trainer

 

You can use an elliptical trainer for a low-impact, full-body workout. Elliptical trainers provide a great cardiovascular workout and can also be used to tone the legs, arms, and core muscles.

 

5. Rowing Machine

 

A rowing machine works the entire body as well. It provides a thorough workout and is a favorite among many fitness enthusiasts. Most rowing machines have a compact design to save space at home. In fact, Kanat was gifted one by his wife, and he still uses it.

 

6. Jumping Rope

 

Jumping rope is probably the most underrated of all cardiovascular workouts. It not only gets your heart rate up but also improves your coordination.
